About Madagascar

Madagascar is often called the eighth continent due to its extraordinary biodiversity. More than 90% of its wildlife is endemic, meaning you won’t find it anywhere else in the world. Green and hawksbill turtles feed in the waters of Nosy Komba, lemurs leap through ancient forests, and coral reefs teem with life, yet these ecosystems face growing challenges from deforestation, overfishing, climate change, limited healthcare access, and under-resourced education systems.

This is where ethical, community-driven volunteering becomes essential.

Outreach Overseas partners with grassroots organisations across the Nosy Be archipelago to deliver Madagascar volunteer programs that directly support environmental protection, education, healthcare, and sustainable development. Every project is locally led, ensuring your contribution strengthens long-term initiatives and aligns with the real needs of the community. From marine conservation and turtle monitoring to forest restoration, English teaching, and community construction, each experience is built with purpose and aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

To volunteer abroad in Madagascar is to step into one of the world’s most unique natural environments and take part in work that protects it for future generations. It’s an opportunity to learn, grow, connect deeply with Malagasy culture, and contribute to positive change in one of the most remarkable places on Earth.
