Frequently Asked Questions

When should I Apply?

You can apply at any time! If you’re planning to travel between June and August, we recommend applying early, as spaces fill up fast. We recommend that applications be submitted at least 60 days before your intended start date to allow time for preparation and payment.

Can I apply for multiple programs or countries?

Yes! You’re welcome to join more than one program. You can note this in your application form, or submit separate applications for each destination. A separate registration fee applies for each placement.

Can we apply with friends or as a group?

Absolutely. Friends, couples, and university groups are all welcome. You can apply together by indicating the number of people in your group and including their names in the “Special Requests” section, or each person can apply separately and list one another.

Do I need experience to join?

Most of our programs don’t require prior experience, just a willingness to get involved, learn, and work as part of a team. Some specialist programs (like Medical Support) do require relevant studies or qualifications, which will be clearly listed on the program page.

What happens after I apply?

Once you’ve completed your application and paid your confirmation fee, you’ll receive a confirmation email, access to your Information Pack, and further instructions to prepare for your placement. Our team will also be in touch with travel advice and any next steps.

Is there a registration fee and is it refundable?

Yes, we charge a $199 confirmation fee only once your application has been accepted. Applying is completely free, and you’ll only be asked to pay after your placement is confirmed. This gives you the freedom to explore our programs with no upfront commitment. Please note, the confirmation fee is non-refundable once paid, as it secures your spot and provides full access to our pre-departure support.

Your confirmation fee secures your placement and activates all of your Outreach Overseas pre-departure support services. This includes:

Personalised pre-departure guidance from our support team
A comprehensive information pack and preparation materials
Assistance with flights, travel insurance, packing, and visas
Ongoing communication and support as you plan your trip
Emergency contact support & financial protection
Certificate of participation upon program completion

Program Fee – Based on Duration & Destination

Your program fee covers the in-country services provided by our local partners and coordination teams, ensuring your placement is safe, supported, and impactful. This typically includes:

Airport pick-up or arrival assistance
Shared volunteer accommodation
Three meals per day (varies slightly by partner/project)
On-site orientation and training at your chosen program
Daily program supervision and meaningful project involvement
Dedicated local staff and ongoing coordination throughout your stay

Each program page includes a full weekly pricing breakdown so you can choose the duration that fits your budget and goals.

You can choose to pay your program fee all at once or in instalments, whichever you prefer. The full balance is due 60 days before your program start date.
